Maia is a rural village which belongs to the Ribeira Grande municipality, in São Miguel Island (as usual :P).
The settlement of the village dates from the 15 century,
when the noblewoman Inês de Maia decided to establish her home there.

As you can see, horses, tractors and farm animals are the main characters of the celebration.
