Maia - Festas do Espírito Santo 2013

Pictures taken on the 20th May 2013, during the Holy Spirit festivity
-Festas do Divino Espírito Santo- in Maia, São Miguel, Azores.

Lots of people from the surrounding villages and from the whole island in general attend to this parade,
where horses, carriages, tractors, huge bulls and other farm animals march along the streets,
with the sound of the drums, bands and fireworks.

.Here you can see the photos of the same festivity in the last year 2012

Trilho Rocha da Relva (PRC20SMI) - Part I

Lenght: 4,5 km

Time: 2h30
Difficulty: Easy

This trail is also an easy one but different and particular.
The starting in the parking of Relva's point of view, It is a one way route that goes down the cliff.
It reminds a bit the fajãs of São Jorge Island.
All the way down you will find the village Rocha da Relva: several houses and some donkeys standing on the way.
A complete peace reigns in all the village.
It is said that exists a microclimate in this area, perfect for vineyards, fig trees and other fruits.
Please respect the nature and do not pick up the fruits along the way.

Trilho Serra Devassa (PRC5SMI)

Lenght: 4,2 km
Time: 2h
Difficulty: Easy

This trail is in my top-5 favourite ones.
It's easy to do and very pleasant. You feel like you are on the top of the island (900m)
(even though the highest peak is on the other side of São Miguel!)
It is recommendable to do it just in sunny days with blue sky and no clouds.
Check the photos below to know why.
