During our trip to Poland in January 2010 (it's totally an experience going to Poland in the middle of the winter) we visit Oświęcim Brzezinka. Maybe the names in Polish do not mean anything special to you, but I'm talking about the Nazi concentration camps, Auschwitz and Birkenau, actually extermination and labor camps. They still contain most of the buildings that there were during the Nazi German occupation, some of them are now converted into a museum, recalling as they were during the extermination. Having visited it in winter it makes you realize the extreme conditions that the prisoners suffered. It is a place full of history, pain and suffering and that surely does not leave any visitor indifferent.
