ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo

compo 1
Vila Franca do Campo is a town in the south coast of Sao Miguel island. Its main touristic spot is a little island: Ilhéu de Vila Franca. You can reach there by boat in just 5 minutes from the port of Vila Franca. In that island there's a lagoon of sea water, where it's really nice to have a bath. I attach you a picture from the air (not mine, of course).

Ponta Delgada

Ponta Delgada is where I'm currently living. It's the capital city of Açores Islands and the biggest city in Sâo Miguel Island. If you wanna know more,... wikipedia is your friend. :P

Yesterday we were all of us invited by the Eurodyssee Organisation in Açores to have lunch in the Restaurant Anfiteatro, located in Portas do Mar, also in Ponta Delgada. Here the proof of the wonderful meal we had.

After the lunch we found this "concentração de Beatles" just in front of the Portas da Cidade.

Lagoa do Fogo

As you can see now I'm living on a very, very green island. Well, actually Sâo Miguel (Açores Islands) is known as "The Green Island". I´ll stay here for some months, so you can have an idea of the kind of pictures I'll be posting :P

Here I show you one of our first visits around the island: Lagoa do Fogo (Lagoon on Fire), which is a crater lake situated a few kilometres from Ponta Delgada (the capital city of the island). The best option to go there is by renting a car. During the driving and if you are lucky and there are no clouds, you can have wonderful view from the top of the volcano. Actually I think it's one of the highest spots on the island.

When you reach the parking, you need to go down the mountain for some minutes to arrive at the water, so you better wear good, comfortable shoes to hike. By the way, it is not very recommended to have a bath in the lake because of the seaweeds.

After that we went to Ribeira Seca to have dinner. It's a little village on the north of the island and, like a lot of other towns, they were celebrating the Espiritu Santo event. So all the neighbours invited us to join the party and take part of the event with some dancings and drinks. I was really impressed about their kindness and amability to us :)

a new adventure!

On Tuesday a new adventure is going to start. An adventure that, hopefully, will last at least 6 months. I've never been such long time far away from home. That's why I'll have to say good-bye (or see you soon) to a lot of people I really love. I'm gonna miss them all so much. But, on the other side, I can't wait to see what is waiting for me over there on that Island (why when I mention Island, Lost always comes to my mind? LOL)
Anyways, I'll give you more information in the next posts, which will be already sent from there :)

Com podeu veure hi havia exemplars preciosos i molt fotogènics :)

This last weekend was the Middle-age Fair or Salt Festival in Cardona (town in Catalunya known for its salt mines). Despite the rain, we could enjoy, among some other activities, the show of owls and hawks. As you can see in the pictures they were beautiful and quite photogenic :)

I recognise that I'm a little bit addicted to this coffee franchise. Luckily we don't have any in my town, so I just go every 2 or 3 months when I'm in Barcelona :)
